A unique property, sitting high up on the hill.
It’s not every day that we get to design and install one of our kitchens into such a unique property, sitting high up on the hill out in West Lancashire, enjoying views as far as Blackpool and The Lakes. This old property with its farmhouse style kitchen was in need of updating though in a style that would nod to its original charming features as well as addressing the need for functionality and style.
Kim had opened up the space by taking down a studded wall that had created a narrow hallway from the front door into the kitchen area. By taking down the wall this offered more design options and really opened up the space ( and extra 3 feet !) and exposed the fabulous original brickwork.
With its low beamed ceilings and welcoming Aga set in its sandstone chimney breast, Kim was inspired by the In-Frame Shaker Kitchen door and the option of an Island that was not possible before removing the wall. She chose a combination of Porcelain in- frame doors and Charcoal for the island which really enhanced the vibrant red of the Aga.
For the worktops Kim opted for Opal White Quartz. Upstands were fitted in part, however, where the Quartz met the original brickwork, a slow process of cutting the quartz in small stages to fit the shape of the stone (almost like a jigsaw ) was achieved by the team from Prestige Granite and Marble Ltd. Kim chose to have a Belfast sink installed which complimented the style of the kitchen perfectly and opted for a free- standing fridge to save on storage space in the main body of the kitchen. A wine cooler was added ( we’d all love one of these ! ) and within the island, the centerpiece of this kitchen, we installed an oven, induction hob, storage drawers and a seating area. The whole look was completed with Amtico flooring and soft leather bar stools adding warmth to this beautiful family kitchen. Impressive and a joy to design and install, we hope Kim enjoys her new kitchen for many years to come.
