Lydia and Paul's kitchen

Exquisite Design of a Timeless Classic.

We are sure you will love this contemporary yet traditional kitchen as much as we do, designed, made and installed for Lydia and Paul. Their brief was to try and improve on the layout of the existing footprint, to create a functional kitchen space with plenty of storage that oozes quality and style.

The choice of regiment Green Mornington Shaker certainly works beautifully, not only for its fresh and clean appeal but it stands out as a timeless classic.

The crisp contrast of Carrara Marble Quartz works so well against the green and really does provide a blank canvas when it comes to those finishing touches. A neutral colour choice never fails as it allows you to accessorise in so many ways while maintaining the core elements of a calm and inviting space.

In terms of design and layout, we made a few suggestions that made all the difference.

Working around original features

As this house is full of charm and character the kitchen needed to work around some original features including original coving, pillars, and ceilings of differing heights. Rather than lose this appeal we came up with a few tweaks.
The straight wall originally had a door on the right hand side leading to a living room. We suggested blocking this up, allowing for the tall oven to be homed there and this then created more space for the hob to sit comfortably, with wall units installed either side for symmetry.

Bespoke door made to fit

To the right of the doorway leading into the hall, we installed the Integrated Fridge Freezer. Here there were some restricted height issues due to the stairs, so we had a bespoke door made to fit and then created the seamless finish by adding some shelving for cookery books and a place to store wine.

A handy little workstation

Further storage was added by continuing with some corner units into the dining area, also providing extra worktop space. A useful area not just for everyday use but a handy little workstation when entertaining, a place to put a wine bucket and glasses or a food warmer, freeing up the U shaped kitchen area for preparing or serving any number of culinary delights.

The heart of the home

To complete the look we incorporated some open shelving with brushed chrome brackets above these units, which look great with the accessories chosen by Lydia and Paul. The choice of brushed chrome handles and grey Karndean flooring brings the whole look together. This really does feel like the heart of the home !
